Freedom In The Lord

Week 1

"And God shall wipe away their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, no crying, neither shall there be any more pain.  For the former things are passed away. (Revelation 21:4)

I am so encouraged by the verse this week, to know that God will wipe every tear away from our eyes. That there is a promise of no more death, mourning, crying, pain from sickness, or cruelty in this world. All the horrible things including injustices, losses and pains will pass away but God’s word will remain.

It reminds us that God makes all things new in our lives every day. So let it encourage you to know that there is no circumstance or situation that remains the same.  There is nothing God cannot change or make brand new.

1. Depend on the promises of God

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”  He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty, I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. (Revelation 21: 5-7).

The promises in this verse once again solidify Gods promises to make things new. His words are not empty as He reminds us of his diety. In the midst of challenging seasons in our lives, it can be difficult to remember this. We need to hold onto His words in those moments and look forward to the future. Continuously reminding ourselves that He is All-powerful and He can change our situations in a twinkle of an eye.  He has done it before and He will do it again.

As hard as it is don't fall in the trap of spending your precious time worrying about uncertainty and the unknown mysteries of this world. Look forward to receiving the promises of God in your life.

The verse this week tells us that Jesus Christ, the merciful Loving father is coming back, and He has not abandoned us because He has an amazing plan for us. Jesus will make all things new when he returns.  He will eradicate every sickness, disease, any situation that has created anxiety or caused suffering. Everything worrying you right now will be of the past. He will perfect every imperfection in your life.

2. Our God is all-knowing

The best news is that we will be with our Almighty powerful God. The Bible assures us that Gods dwelling place is now among the people (Revelation 21: 3). We are created by Him to be with Him and God is determined to see this through to completion. In the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus, He has forgiven our sins and brought us closer to Him.

When Jesus returns, we will be with God in a completely new way where every challenge, horrific or chaotic seasons will be no more.

Therefore, don't worry, your future is secured in the All-knowing, powerful God who is able to fulfil His promises to you.

Remember and be rest assured that as Christians, we have certainty as promised by God. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will keep His promises to the end. He has promised us freedom. (Galatians 5:1)

Reflection time

  • Are you worried about the future?

  • What can you change by worrying about it?

  • Do you believe in God?

I challenge you to believe that God is willing and more than able to comfort you if you allow Him to come into your life and if you trust Him.

As a follower of Jesus, remember that you have freedom in Him, so hold unto His promises. Keep your faith and trust in Him knowing that He's got your back in any season of life?

Let's pray

Dear God Almighty and All-Powerful,

Please instil your certainty in my life', remembering your promises.

Please help me to be encouraged by your words for today and look forward to the day when all the pains and bitterness of this world will be no more.

Thank you, Jesus, for your promises in Jesus name Amen.
