Focus On Today, Let God Handle Tomorrow

Proverbs 19:21

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

During the Corona virus outbreak, it seems life has completely halted or switched up on us. For some, life has come to a standstill, for others it’s now a season of uncertainty with our career; businesses, family life and our day to day.

We love to believe what we as Christians will choose to hope in the middle of whatever crisis we faced, but only if that crisis still was able to bring comfort and joy to our immediate situation. With the sudden change in life it’s becoming clearer, we would need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

So, in the midst of uncertainty, we focus on Gods ultimate will for our lives and allow him to navigate this turbulent storm. Whether this is a time to rest in him and from life, finally starting that business, starting that book you have had in your heart, working out more, spending time with bae and the kids or even just catching up on some much needed sleep – this (free) time is limited, get on with it!

The question is, how can we practically do this?

1. Spend this limited free time in Gods presence daily

Spending time with the Lord in private may not be that exciting or interesting as preaching the gospel or visiting the saints, but it is the place where the Lord wants us to be.

It’s important to check in with him daily, put on that worship music, make some tea and spend undivided time with him. Maybe switch it up and lay down on that workout mat and play a worship song that reflect God’s greatness.

This new free time we have a gift…let’s use it!

2. Keep Your Workplace and Your Personal Space Separate

Working remotely doesn’t mean your home should become the office, be intentional about creating a safe space/ sanctuary so you are able to switch off after work is done.

· Start by allocating, cleaning and decluttering your working area.

· Invest in a good workstation with a table and a chair for your laptop.

· Don’t work from your bed - this should always remain a place where you can rest!

Create a sanctuary in your home where you can completely switch off, light some candles and just chill.

Being quarantined can be difficult to find the energy to exercise or move, but maybe try going for a walk around your area. Pop on a podcast (ChristnChill haha) or some music that gets you energetic, walk around and take in the beauty of this world!

4. Find a need around you and meet them (digitally or locally)

Why not help a neighbor do some shopping or sign up for an elderly buddy system where you can call those in isolation alone and just have a CHAT! Regardless of what is it, as the light and salt of the earth, lets focus on taking the focus off ourselves and shining it on someone in need. Every little helps – if you have the capacity to do it, GO FOR IT!

5. Time to start that side hustle!

Ladies – Time to create an online course, start the podcast, write the blog or book! With great resources like Shopify you can turn a creative hobby into a business and build an online store. Find ways to monetize your current knowledge and experiences.

6. At the end of each day, create a game plan for the next day

Create a schedule and set your alarm, its important to be intentional daily.

Remember - Today can be as great as you want it to be.
