Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (Ephesians 6:10)
This week’s verse is encouraging you to equip yourself with the word of God, so when you go through difficulties and challenges, you will not weaver, you will be able to stand against the wiles of the devil and fight it in prayer.
When I was reflecting on this week’s verse, this situation came to mind. It was during a season when I believed myself to be weak in prayer & meditating on the word of God, and I experienced a sudden and unexpected bad season. I could not pray but found myself crying most of the time. I felt that God had a hatred for me which led me to do that season of my life on my own accord with my own strength. I now realise that if only I had armed myself with the word of God and surrounded myself with the Christian community, I would have dealt with that bad season differently and perhaps the outcome would have been different.
As children of God, we need to be in peace with God and make Him the centre of our lives. We need to develop our relationship with God and develop a dependency on Him in every season of life. We need to have faith and commune with Him so that we can run to God in our difficulties and challenges.
Fight the battle with weapons of prayer, fasting and meditation
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).
The Bible tells us to put on the whole armour of God, which is, prayer, fasting, supplications, and the word of God, that we may be able to withstand any chaotic seasons of life and having done all, to stand firm. “The weapons of warfare are not carnal”. The spiritual warfare is a battle of our spiritual welfare, As Christians, we need to acknowledge that we are always in a war between our physical and spiritual needs. Our spiritual battles and warfare are real, even though we can not see what is attacking us. But we can teach ourselves how to fight the battle using the word of God. This week’s verse is challenging us to prepare ourselves before the battle begins.
Why do we even fight if we are children of God?
The Bible tells us that there is always an ongoing battle in the spiritual realm regardless of our beliefs or whether we are prepared or not. However, it does not make a difference whether we believe it or not. We can either prepare ourselves and become victorious in the Lord or do not prepare ourselves and become victims of the evil one. We have an example of this warfare through Jesus Christ our personal saviour, who fought and won the battle here on Earth and in Heaven. As children of the highest God, we know that Jesus has already won the battle in Heaven. In Mathew 28:18, Jesus tells us that “All authority has been given to me in heaven and earth”. Therefore we have an eternal relationship with God, the creator of the universe. We have salvation and everyday victory in our everyday lives.
It is important to note that we can only achieve everyday victory by knowing and understanding who we are in Christ Jesus, having faith in God and understanding our daily seasons of life particularly our bad seasons and by submitting it all to God.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. (Ephesians 6:14)
Be encouraged this week to prepare yourself with the gospel of peace. Above all, putting on the shield of faith, so that you will be able to destroy all the fiery darts of the wicked (pride, deception, rejection, arrogant and loneliness) and its manifestation in your life.
We deal with principalities and powers of darkness and agents of darkness. It is important that we take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God to fight spiritual warfare in times of battle with the enemy.
Pray always with supplication unto God in Spirit and looking upward with all perseverance and supplication for all saints of God. Remember He loves you. So fight and arm yourself with the weapons of God.
Pray, study the word of God, let praise and worship occupy your mind and surround yourself with Christian family.

Remember to maintain peace with your brethren ( friends, family, colleagues etc) and love God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ with all your heart and all your soul in faith.
Dear Heavenly Father, thanks for your grace and love. I thank you for giving me the grace to present my struggles before your throne. Help me to not rely on my own strength but to rely on your power ultimately. I love you our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity and always in Jesus name Amen.
